Gearing up for its second season, What If? Productions welcomes Laura Ball as their new music director. A native of Charleston, Ball has worked with various local arts organizations, including the Footlight Players, Village Playhouse, Charleston Stage, Charleston Symphony Orchestra, and more.

A musician herself (piano and soprano), Ball attended the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., the College of Charleston, and she’s currently enrolled as an MFA candidate in interdisciplinary arts through Goddard College. Se also serves as the artistic director and founder of Unedited, a concert series at the Charleston Library Society, and she’s the director of music at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Johns Island. Ball is working on composing a score for November’s production of Chesapeake.

In other What If? news, the company is promoting its upcoming production of Durang, Durang and Durang by offering fans a chance to win a walk-on role in the show. Opening Oct. 6 at Theatre 99, Durang is described as a “collection of bizarre comic short plays.” To have your moment in the spotlight, just “like” What If? on Facebook, then send them a message that says “Durang.” There will be one winner each night.
