A Christmas Carol reading
Charles Dickens edited his book, A Christmas Carol, into a public-reading format and performed the adapted version himself to sold-out houses in both Europe and America. Now, Traveling Literary Theater brings the same edited version, read by English stage actor, James Dyne, as he takes on the role of “a squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous old sinner!” Set in the picturesque Circular Congregational Church, take your pick of afternoon or evening recitations.

Dec. 18. 3 and 7 p.m. $20/ticket; $15/senior, military, student discount. Circular Congregational Church. 150 Meeting St. Downtown.

Elf trivia
The best way to spread Christmas cheer may be singing loud for all to hear, but the second best way may just be a rousing game of trivia at your favorite brewery. Tables are first-come first-serve at this week’s trivia, so grab a team of elves and compete for cash prizes. First place gets $100, second place gets $50 and third place gets $25.

Dec. 15. 8 p.m. Free to attend. Fam’s Brewing Co. 1291 Folly Road. James Island.
