Charleston Crokinole Club Open Play 
Come experience the joy of the best non-ice-related Canadian sport Crokinole at Frothy Beard Off World Brewery and Taproom. Whether you’re an experienced player, a novice or just crokinole-curious, players of all skill levels and ages are welcome. Anyone under the age of 21 will need to be accompanied by an adult. This will be an open play event: No tournament, no structure, just fun. New players will be greeted and taught the game by the club’s experienced players.

CHS Nerd Fest 2022
Join this family-friendly gamer event and cosplay contest complete with a video game tournament, drone simulator, live graffiti, face painting, food trucks and a parents’ lounge with wine and beer. Check out vendor tables with T-shirts, jewelry, anime, toys, vinyl and more. Mount Pleasant’s Contender eSports will host a rotating video game tournament with Super Smash Bros, MarioKart, Rocket League and Halo. Don’t miss the gallery show by Patch Whiskey, robotic demonstrations and a Q&A with The Cyber Psychos Podcast crew.

DaVinci Kids Summer Pop-Up Paint Class
All kids ages 6 and older are welcome to join this pop-up paint event at Estuary Beans & Barley. The class includes step-by-step instructions to teach kids the joy of creating their own work of art. Parents are welcome to drop off their kids or stay onsite and enjoy food from the Crystal Coast Seafood food truck. Adult attendees will receive $1 off every pint and snacks are provided for kids. There’s a 48-hour cancellation policy and a waiver must be filled out to drop off your child.

Past, Present, Future Exhibition by Aort Reed
The Public Works Art Center’s next West Gallery exhibition, Past, Present, Future, will be presented by Aort Reed, a local muralist and contemporary visual fine artist. “What really drives me the most is empiricism, emotions and communication,” Reed said. The exhibition reception, sponsored by South Porch Artists, will be held 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Aug. 18.

Brewing on Books: A Community Book Club
Commonhouse Aleworks will host a community discussion as part of the event series Brewing on Books: A Community Book Club. Dive into the history and practice of seagrass basket making with historian and author Dale Rosengarten and basketmaker Trudy Hicks. Food and drink specials will be available from Commonhouse Aleworks during the event
