Make Your Own Sweetgrass Basket
Head out to Hampton Plantation State Historic Site to learn a centuries-old practice that goes back to the coast of West Africa. Every member of the family once aided in making sweetgrass baskets, and the skill of this art form was passed on to each new generation. Bring a friend, some scissors, snacks and bug spray, and join Barbara McCormick as she passes on the tradition to you.

Wearable Art Exhibition
This exhibition features jackets, coats, vests and ensembles from contemporary folk artist, teacher and lecturer Rachel D.K. Clark’s recent wearable art collections, as well as selections from throughout her extensive career. Clark has been creating wearable art since 1973. Her garments are characterized by eclectic fabric mixes, vibrant designs and a keen sense of humor.
