[embed-1] You won’t see any Tigers, Gamecocks, or Cougars as you fill out your brackets for your office pool this week. (Unless you have money on the women’s tourney, in which case, that’s pretty cool.) But that doesn’t mean S.C. schools are nowhere to be found in the postseason this year.
Wofford College is the only S.C. school to make the official NCAA tournament this year. After finishing the season 20th in the nation, the Terriers likely would have earned a spot in the tournament on the merits of their season, but a SoCon tournament win helped them earn a higher seeding, slotting in as a seven seed in the Midwest Regional.
Wofford vs. Seton Hall
Thurs., 9:30 p.m.
Preview: Wofford plays 10-seed Seton Hall, which only won 20 games through the postseason (Wofford won 29). The Terriers are favored to win over the Pirates out of the Big East, setting up a second-round game against two-seed Kentucky. Wofford senior guard Fletcher Magee broke Steph Curry’s SoCon record for 3-pointers, so look for him to launch them until the Terriers get sent home. UNC is the top seed in the Midwest Regional, they would face Wofford in the Sweet 16.
In the women’s bracket, Clemson and perennial powerhouse South Carolina make appearances.

Clemson vs. South Dakota
Fri., 7 p.m.
Clemson (19-13) and Furman (25-7) finished their seasons with respectable records, but failed to win their conference tournaments or get at-large bids to the NCAA tourney, so on to the NIT they go. Full bracket here.
Clemson vs. Wright State
Tues., 7 p.m.
Preview: Clemson had been on the bubble for a potential at-large pick until the ACC tournament, when they fell to N.C. State in the second round of the conference playoff. They face Wright State for their NIT opener, and would play Furman or Wichita State in the second round. Furman is a 40-minute drive from Clemson and Wichita State is coached by Gregg Marshall, the former Winthrop head coach and CofC assistant. Starting in the third round, NIT games are played at Madison Square Garden in N.Y.
Furman vs. Wichita State
Wed., 7 p.m.
Preview: Furman University had a pretty good year playing in the SoCon, winning their first 12 games and appearing briefly in the top-25. They would only lose five games all year, two to Wofford and one to UNC-G, which Wofford beat to win the SoCon title. (UNC-G is also in the NIT.) They match up against Wichita State on Wednesday. The Shockers aren’t as strong as they have been in past years, failing to win 20 games for the first time since 2009, but never count a Gregg Marshall team out in the postseason.
The Furman women’s team also appears in the Women’s NIT this year, playing Virginia Tech out of the ACC in Blacksburg, Va. on Thursday. Time TBD.
Elsewhere, Coastal Carolina University plays in the CBI and Presbyterian College plays in the CIT.
