Charleston orchestral group/experiemental Americana/chamber rock band Lindsay Holler & The Dirty Kids (is there a good two-word definition for their unique style?) share the stage with some cool bands this week at the Map Room. One visiting act of note is Ilad (pictured to the left), an atmospheric quartet out of Richmond armed with a misty-cool new collection titled National Flags (SYJIP Records). Sort of drowsy blend of Air, Suicide, and Low, the album was recorded and mixed by Chicago cat John McIntire (of Tortoise).

The obvious “stand-out” of the night might be Knoxville alt-pop act Mic Harrison & The High Score, as Harrison is best known as a former member of the V-Roys and Superdrag. He and his quartet (pictured to the left) are on the road behind a new, self-released collection called Push Me On Home.

Harrison & The High Score also share the stage with The Wagoneers (featuring former members of April Invention, although one wouldn’t detect it from the new band’s twangy Dylan-esque style) at the Charleston County Public Library (Main Branch, 68 Calhoun St., 805-6930) on Sat. July 14 at 3 p.m. It’s a free show (thank you, Kevin Crouthers!).
