[image-1]You know what we miss most about the good ol’ days? Drive-in movie theaters. Granted, we’ve never been to one (we know, tragic), but they always seemed so damn cool. Well now, Yonder Field, the new outdoor music venue in Bowman, S.C. — about an hour drive from Charleston — is giving us what we want. Starting on Aug. 18 Yonder Field presents drive in movies every Friday and Saturday through this winter.

Partnering with Beaufort, S.C.’s Highway 21 Drive-In, Yonder Field will screen flicks on one screen during its first few weekends and then add not one but two more screens starting in September. Y’all, we’re talking three movies on three separate screens (featuring the same movies currently offered in theaters) every weekend. If that’s not worth an hour drive, we don’t know what is. [content-1] Before each movie there will be a stage for live music and lawn games like cornhole and a giant Connect 4. Southbound 17 plays on Fri. Aug. 18 and Pinkerton and the Brinks performs on Sat. Aug. 19. There will also be a trolley concession stand with traditional movie snacks as well as a food truck village.

Once those three screens get set up in September, each weekend will screen two adult movies — one with lawn seating only — and one family-friendly flick. Beer and wine will be available for sale at the adult screenings. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. to cars and movies begin at 8:45 p.m.

In addition to all of that, Yonder Field is getting in on the eclipse action with a special screening of ET on Mon. Aug. 21 at 9 p.m. as part of Yonder Field’s Solar Eclipse Festival.

Yonder Field screens Wonder Woman on Aug. 18-19. Stay up-to-date with Yonder Field’s future drive-in movie screenings by visiting their Facebook page.
