Zocalo is in the midst of a makeover. The North Charleston restaurant, known for its Mexican fare, has joined forces with the Daniel Island Grill to bring you Dig in the Park, which will open today, Fri. Nov. 11.
The new restaurant gets its name from the Daniel Island Grill’s nickname “Dig,” combined with its new location at the former Zocalo in Park Circle.
In transforming from Mexican cantina to sports pub and eatery, Dig in the Park will replace queso fundido and fajitas with burgers, sandwiches, and wings. However, the menu, according to owner Thomas Dowling, will be very diversified, still offering some of the tacos and burritos that Zocalo fans may have grown to love.
The addition of 15 big screen TVs, as well as a large projector screen, will help establish the sports bar feel. Dowling, who also owns the Dublin Down Irish Pub and the “Dig Rig” food truck, says that their Friday opening will come with an array of super specials.
