Shuck it up at the Lowcountry Oyster Festival.

The Charleston Jazz Orchestra and the Jazz Artists of Charleston, under Charlton Singleton, will rework your movie soundtrack favorites with Jazz on the Screen.

The Winter Masquerade Ball will have performances by NastyNasty, Landsquid, the Polish Ambassador, Bitch Please, Intermixture, and Droppin’ Joints Magically at the Music Farm.

On with the Showgirls and off with the clothes. Bizarro Burlesque presents the show, a benefit for My Sister’s House.

Get a taste of Folly at, well, the Taste of Folly.

There are benefits this weekend for the First Tee Scholarship Fund, the Summerville YOUTHDREAMS Company, the Charleston Blazing Hawks semiprofessional football team, and for local fireman Seth Bacon.

The Men’s Club of Our Lady of Good Counsel hosts an oyster roast, and so does the Fort Johnson Community Foundation.

The Stingrays are away this weekend, but there’s a couple of more alternative sports events to keep you occupied. The Professional Bull Riders are making a stop in North Charleston. SC BarCar hosts the BarCar Olympics, which mixes alcohol with competitive gaming (i.e. skee ball and Big Buck Hunter). The Charleston Running Club has the Charlie Post Classic 5K and 15K Road Races. And see who comes out on top at the Lowcountry Dodgeball Tournament. I’m flinching just at the thought of all those flying rubber balls.

Comedy Fest, we hardly knew ye. And though the out-of-town comedians have all gone back to their respective cities, we can still show our local funny men and women some love at Bingo Improv and The Have Nots! performances. Plus Mike Speenberg and Dan Weeks perform at Wing Time in Summerville

Dreamscapes has body painting by Scott Fray, Madelyn Greco, Phillip Hyman, and Lea, music by Wawona and Quiddity, a video composition by Matt Foreman, a burlesque performance by Brandy Valentine, and photography by St. Jane Photography.

South of Broadway presents locally produced short films at their East of Hollywood Indie Night. You’ll get to mingle with filmmakers as well.
