Christmas is still months away, but that doesn’t mean you have to deprive yourself of all the amazing foods and flavors the holiday season has to offer. Sugar Bakeshop on Cannon Street agrees, which is why they’re celebrating Christmas in July by offering refreshing treats with a holiday flair July 20-25.

“This is something I’ve always wanted to do,” says co-owner Bill Bowick. “We want people to be pleasantly surprised when they walk into our store and see all the Christmas decorations. We’ll be offering treats that taste like the holiday season but are also refreshing during the hot summer.”

The hot chocolate popsicle is made from almost the same recipe as the hot chocolate served during the winter months, but instead of a hot drink, the concoction is poured into a popsicle mold and frozen to icy perfection. The eggnog ice cream is spiked with Kentucky Bourbon whiskey, the peppermint stick ice cream is made with ground-up candy canes, and the toasted pecan ice cream includes homemade butter pecans fused with a homemade vanilla base.

Sugar is churning out baked goods as well, including a selection of holiday cookies and a trio of cupcakes. Gingerbread and sugar cookies will be available, and Bostick suggests you pair them with one of the aforementioned ice creams. If you’re looking for something sweet and simple, try one of their red velvet, peppermint, or gingerbread cupcakes. Sugar Bakeshop is located at 59 1/2 Cannon St. For more information call (843) 579-2891 or visit sugarbake.com.
