Freebies aren’t exactly coming out of the woodwork this week, but we weren’t going to leave you hanging. We managed to scrounge up some pretty cool events.

Monday. College Of Charleston students will get in free to the College’s choir concert tonight conducted by Dr. Robert Taylor.

It’s Ladies Night at Badd Kitty so women can enjoy free bubbly, samples, and 10 percent off merchandise.

Tuesday. Monster Music is hosting a listening party and happy hour where you can enjoy some free pizza and storewide sales. Show off your vocal talents at karaoke happening tonight at Big John’s, Jack’s Place, and Wild Wing, or participate in open mic night at Bakehouse and Fiddler’s Green. If you enjoy music but don’t have the skills you can enjoy live tunes at Boone’s Bar, High Cotton, and Juanita Greenberg’s.  

Wednesday. Today Tom Swayne, president of the Gilston Agency, will lead a discussion and answer questions surrounding the effects healthcare reform will have on individuals and businesses.

Generation X is hosting a couples party to celebrate Date Your Mate month. Bring your your sweetie for giveaways, gift certificates, and more.

Learn how to become a teacher in South Carolina at this lecture held at the Charleston County Public Library on Calhoun Street.

Guilty Pleasures is hosting a Ladies Night tonight with light refreshments, cocktails, and appetizers. The night includes a raffle, prizes, giveaways, and a special performance by the California Badd Boys.

The weekly Big Gun Show at Big Gun Burger continues tonight with local open mic stand up hosted by Dusty Slay.

Thursday. The Halsey is hosting a screening of Heart of Stone, a film that explores one of the most violent high schools in America. The filmmaker will be in attendance for a Q&A and reception following the screening.

Dialysis patients are invited to enjoy games, live music, and food at the Kidney County Fair tonight. Registration is required.

Join 30 local restaurants and food trucks for Dining Out for Life, which raises money for HIV/AIDS prevention, research, and care in Charleston. The participating restaurants will donate a portion of their sales to the Ryan White Programs.

Saturday. Enjoy Italian food, culture, and live music at the Festa Italiana today at Azalea Park. Or check out handmade crafts by local artists at the Island Crafters Guild Spring Show today in James Island.

Stall High School is hosting Parent University where parents can learn how to protect their children from current cyber dangers.

Today is also World Tai Chi and Qigong Day, so head to Bees Landing Recreation Complex and learn some moves. Meet your neighbors and maybe find a unique vintage item at the Community Yard Sale hosted by Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.

Sunday. The Town of Mt. Pleasant is hosting their annual Blessing of the Fleet and Seafood Festival today. Festivities include a boat parade, ceremonial blessing of the shrimp and fishing fleet, seafood samplings from local restaurants, live music, an arts and crafts show, shag dancing and more.

Charleston funnyman Jason Groce is hosting TROM (Tin Roof Open Mic) Comedy tonight, featuring local performers and free pizza.

The master planned community in Goose Creek, Carnes Crossroads, is hosting its grand opening today. They’ll have live music, entertainment and food.
