It’s the halfway point of Charleston Beer Week, and your liver is probably aching, but remember the only way to detox is to retox, so plan to suck it up and drink on as the week rolls into its final days.

Whether you’re into hoppy IPAs, roasty porters, malty stouts, or light pilsners, Charleston Beer Week has something for all beer lovers. Participating brewers include local Holy City, Westbrook, COAST, Palmetto, along with notable and national companies like Brooklyn Brewery, SweetWater, and Thomas Creek.

The Beer Week schedule is packed with sudsy fun. Wednesday night, try your hand at Craft Beer Trivia with River Dog at Boone’s Bar. River Dog brews including Coastal Wit, Double IPA, English Dry Cider, Galaxy Quest Pale Ale, Red Ale, and a special release of El Dorado Single Hop Pale Ale will be on tap. The beers will be tapped at 7:30 p.m. and trivia begins at 8 p.m. Expect plenty of swag giveaways, and half-off wings. With $4.50 pints of River Dog brews, this is an event where you can ball on a budget.

Over at The Green Door, they’re teaming up with Highland Beer of Asheville for an adventurous beer-paired dinner on Thursday night ($55). The menu will include local clams in a coconut curry broth, braised pig head with candied bacon, pickled turnips and grilled sourdough, Highland-braised local beef tongue sliders, house mustard, pickled green tomatoes and arugula.

On Thursday, Mellow Mushroom gets creative with There’s Art in that Can with Oskar Blues. Drink a variety of brews in cans from Brevard, N.C., and then watch your empties get turned into art by local aspiring artists. This exclusive art demonstration will feature Dale’s Pale Ale, Mama’s Little Yella Pils, Old Chub, Gubna, and G’Knight Imperial Red.

TGIFirkin Friday on the patio at Smoky Oak is a great way to start your weekend. A firkin, or a cask of beer, is a traditional serving container used to naturally carbonate beer, resulting in a softer mouth feel and more flavor. This rare beer event at 6 p.m. will give you an opportunity to try some beers you may know well in a whole new way. Participating brewers include Sierra Nevada, River Dog, RJ Rockers, Sweetwater, Holy City, and Thomas Creek. 10-oz. pours will be $4.

So the bad news, Saturday means CBW is coming to an end, but the good news, it also means its time for the City Paper-sponsored Seasonal Beer Crawl. For $35 you can stumble around downtown and try seasonal and flagship craft brews at some of your favorite bars. Each bar will host a brewery and feature some of their beers at a special price just for CBW. Locations and beers include: Mellow Mushroom, which will be serving Foothills India Brown Ale, Hoppyum, SweetWater Road Trip, and 420; Mac’s Place, which will be pouring Highland Gaelic Ale and Devil’s Britches IPA; and Moe’s Downtown, serving RJ Rockers Son of a Peach, Bell Ringer Ale, Magic Hat #9, and Encore. Register online and then pick up your passport between 12:30 and 2 p.m on Saturday before embarking on your crawl, which goes until 6 p.m.
