It’s dreary AF outside, but don’t let that get your spirits down — we hear the sun will be shining tomorrow. And besides, wasn’t it time to break out those moth-ball infested jackets? Bundle up and check out all these fun winter happenings this weekend, from open mic poetry to holiday markets, oyster roasts, and parades:

Friday

The Mt. Pleasant Performing Arts Center presents its 13th annual production of The Nutcracker at 7 p.m.

Head to Eclectic Vinyl & Cafe for open mic poetry night starting at 7:30 p.m and featuring the work of Bria the Poet.

Whose Hat is This featuring members of the Tedeschi Truck Band play at Pour House starting at 8:30 p.m.

Don your fave tacky Xmas sweater and head to Royal American for a rock ‘n roll show featuring Rare Creatures, MYFEVER, and Youngster.

Saturday

Celebrate Charles Towne Fermentory’s first birthday from noon to midnight with food, live music, special casks, new beer, limited edition merchandise, and a “very special” can release.

The Pour House hosts a PoHoHo Holiday Night Market from 5 to 9 p.m.; shop tons of artisans vendors beneath the stars.

Watch brilliantly decorated vessels of the sea cut through the water at the Charleston Holiday Parade of Boats viewing party and boat raffle at the Charleston Maritime Center starting at 5 p.m.

Slurp some bivalves at the Johns Island oyster fest starting at noon. Shop local artisans, drink beer, and purchase $10 buckets of oysters. Proceeds benefit local children living with disabilities.

Enjoy some music under the oaks at Tattooed Moose Johns Island with the Jeff Caldwell Duo taking the stage starting at 3 p.m.

The Bohicket’s Merchant Association hosts the second annual Holiday Parade of Boats and tacky sweater contest starting at 6 p.m.

Revelry hosts a holiday pop-up from noon to 8 p.m. featuring a handful of local artists and of course, plenty of tasty brews on tap.

Sunday

Get your last minute holiday shopping done at Pour House Sunday Brunch Farmers Market from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Mt. Pleasant Christmas Light Parade begins at 5:30 p.m. with a fireworks show at Town Hall. 

The Summerville Christmas parade begins at 2 p.m. on Main St., featuring 3,000 participants and a spectatorship of more than 20,000.

The Town of Hollywood’s annual Christmas parade runs from 2 to 4 p.m.

Purchase a 2018 Charleston Firefighter calendar in front of Victoria’s Secret during Second Sunday between noon and 5 p.m.
