Add local sweethearts SUSTO to ranks of Best Coast and Jessica Lea Mayfield, because that’s who the band’s sharing a pretty cool playlist with this week. Indie for the Holidays is a collection of Christmas songs, put out annually by Amazon, you can’t possibly tire of. Past versions feature the likes of Dandy Warhols and the Melvins, and this year’s includes one of Charleston’s very own.
SUSTO’s contribution is the recently, locally recorded “Feliz Navidad,” complete with the indie-but-with-a-twang, festive reggae touch.
The single was premiered this week on American Songwriter, with frontman Justin Osborne saying, “I wanted it to feel like you were spending Christmas on a cruise ship in some sort of psychedelic cocktail lounge.” That sounds about right.
SUSTO’s version of “Feliz Navidad” was recorded back in September at the Space at Rialto Row and produced Wolfgang Zimmerman.
