In speaking with Charleston Mayor Joe Riley Jr. about his own election coming up Nov. 6, I asked if he had heard the “news” of Stephen Colbert’s run for president (in South Carolina). Riley said he had spoken with Colbert, a Charleston native, earlier in the week and gotten the news first hand.
“He didn’t really ask, but I know certainly he would like to have it,” Riley said of an endorsement. “And it would certainly be wrong for me not to support a native son.”
