Can there be such a thing as an indie-rock superstar or is that an oxymoron? The globe-trotting Band of Horses come pretty close to the tag. Over the last year, the Charleston-based pop-rock band embarked on highly-successful and extensive North American and European tours, earned massive critical acclaim, generated piles of fan-posted YouTube clips, performed on late-night television — and even landed in regular rotation on local radio. Lead guy Ben Bridwell may be a native of Columbia, but he and his mates are mostly anchored in and around Folly Beach and Mt. Pleasant these days. (Well, some may officially reside in Mt. P, but they all raise hell and party on Folly!) Sub Pop Records would approve.
