Most locals would probably never set foot on Boone Hall Plantation were it not for the number of major events that take place there, like the Lowcountry Oyster Festival, Scottish Games and Highland Gathering, Taste of Charleston, etc. It’s a lovely venue with plenty of wide open spaces and parking, but getting there is so time consuming it can be tempting to just turn around and pass on the event. Traffic starts backing up on Hwy 17 in Mt. P, it’s at a crawl on Long Point Road, and as you finally get on plantation grounds, it can take over an hour to get parked. It better be a damn good event if all that fume-suckin’s going to be worth it.
