A divide between universities and the entertainment industry keeps getting wider, says Politico.com. Hollywood-approved legislation moving through Congress that aims to toughen laws against copyright infringement, claims the American Council on Education, will overly burden university administrations with being “copyright police” — monitoring their network for illicit downloading. Colleges, however, are pushing back by protecting their students from lawsuits leveled by record labels and movie companies.
