Election filings have provided red meat for folks opposed to avid private school voucher supporter Howard Rich. It appears that Rich’s influence weighs heavy in at least one local district.

Howie is continuing his efforts to skirt South Carolina campaign finance law by funneling $9000 in contributions to Scarborough through various shell corporations and associates:

123 Lasalle Associates A Partnership 09/23/2008 1,000.00

123 Lasalle Inc. 09/29/2008 1,000.00

188 Claremont LLC 09/04/2008 1,000.00

332 E 11 LLC A Partnership 09/15/2008 1,000.00

405 49 Associates 09/14/2008 1,000.00

4220 Broadway Inc. 09/08/2008 1,000.00

4220 Broadway LLC 09/30/2008 1,000.00

Joseph Stillwell 09/15/2008 1,000.00

Paul R. Farago 09/04/2008 1,000.00

The Spartanburg Herald-Journal did a story on Rich last month.

Rich made a splash in 2006 when he sent more than $51,000 Karen Floyd’s way in her failed bid for the state Superintendent of Education post. He ramped it up further this past spring when he pumped at least $500,000 into primary races across the state.

But the list of contributions goes beyond Scarborough, according to FightHowardRich.com, just one of several websites ringing the alarm.

$5,000 – D – Wendell Gilliard, House District 111 (won) – now unopppsed

$8,000 – D -Robert Ford, Senate District 42 (won) now facing Republican Scotty Sheriff

$16,000 – R -Tim Scott, House District 117 (won) – now unopposed

$27,000 – R -Joseph Bustos, House District 112 (lost)
