Looks like playing Dr. Frank-N-Furter wasn’t enough for him. Ralph Prentice Daniel, the driving force behind the Little City Musical Theatre Company, has moved on to follow his acting career. Such is the way of things in Charleston theater. We have to nurture and then send them on their way. Robbi Kenney, music director, has taken over as artistic director of the grass-roots ensemble that staged an uproarious version of the Rocky Horror Show in October. Before that, they did a commendable staging of Jason Robert Brown’s Songs for a New World (PURE’s is currently running Brown’s The Last Five Years). Daniel found a stunning cast, including a Riff Raff that was absolutely dead-on. I wasn’t able to get Kenney on the phone for comment. The last time I spoke with her, the company was searching for a venue to put on some more mainstream productions (I suggested South of Broadway Theatre in North Charleston). Anyway, Daniel sent this message over yesterday:

Hi John,

I hope this email finds you well. I just wanted to let you know (if you don’t know already) I have stepped down as Artistic Director for Little City to continue my professional acting career. I have currently relocated to Tampa, Florida. I am sure Little City will continue to be a success with Robbi at the helm. Best of luck to you and Charleston City Paper!

Kind Regards,

Ralph Prentice Daniel
