Sen. Lindsey Graham was in Spartanburg today talking some sense on the stimulus plan. Unlike Sen. Jim DeMint’s efforts to meet ridiculous Democratic proposals with ridiculous Republican proposals, Graham says he’s looking for help across the aisle for a reasonable stimulus plan.

Sen. Lindsey Graham said the economic crisis will require Republicans to do things “we don’t like.”

… He said he wants to see more of an effort to energize the housing industry. He said he’d prefer a $15,000 tax credit for homebuyers.

I don’t necessarily think that the tax credit idea really gets to the heart of the housing crisis, but at least he’s trying. Neither of our senators is stupid. They’re both smart guys who understand that the country has elected a Democratic majority and that, in the end, the bill that passes will be a progressive one. So, while DeMint just wants to get in the way, Graham is actually looking for ways to make a better bill.
