Local guitarist/singer-songwriter Mark Bryan (of Hootie & the Blowfish) headlines a benefit concert at the Windjammer on the IOP this evening. Proceeds from the door ($10 cover) benefit the Yul Brynner Foundation and The Head and Neck Cancer Alliance. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and music runs from 6-9 p.m.
Bryan’s latest solo effort is titled End of the Front. His live band includes bassist Jamie Crisp (of Big Stoner Creek), drummer Tom Hamer (of The Fire Apes, Hed Shop Boys), and guitarist Danielle Howle (a veteran songwriter from Columbia).

Organized by the folks at MUSC’s Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery department, the gig will be a sort of tag-team jam session between members of Bryan’s band, Spunjwurthi, the Stiff Joints (two bands with whom I regularly get to jam), Ryan Bailey, and other local players. Raffles will be drawn between bands for a variety of items donated by Charleston merchants and MUSC doctors.
