Alright, running fashionistas. Charleston Fashion Week 2009 is kicking off with a brand new event that promises to be wildly entertaining, and possibly a little bit dangerous. On March 21 at 8 a.m., runners will line up on Houston Northcutt Boulevard in Mt. Pleasant for a 100-yard dash. The prize? $10,000. The catch? Runners must be wearing three-inch heels. And they must still be attached at the finish line. Gwynn’s is the presenting sponsor of the event. Charleston Magazine will also be giving a $1,000 prize for best costume. (The grand prize technically includes $5,000 cash and a $5,000 gift certificate to Gwynn’s. Not to mention a year of pedicures from Stella Nova to heal your screaming feet after the race.)
