We had this category on our Best of Charleston readers’ survey for years, and every year you, the people, voted for Calhoun and King. We took the category off simply because we got tired of it. But we feel it’s important to remind the city’s director of transportation, Hernan Peña, and Mayor Riley that — for safety’s sake — we need a turn signal at this intersection. We fear for the people in the crosswalks, especially when we’re among them. You’re heading east on Calhoun and want to take a left onto King. The oncoming left lane is backed up behind a fellow left-turner. And there lies the problem. How are people not being mowed down on a daily basis? Please, we beg you, put turn signals in! We can only hope Riley included it on his wishlist to Obama.
