The P&C reports this morning that Charlie Lybrand and Curtis Inabinett have started a new farmers market out Savannah Hwy.
On May 1 and 2, they’ll get their chance. A new market will make its debut at 4246 Savannah Highway, just south of the Wallace River in Rantowles. The site, with 9 acres of high land and a building once used as a packing shed, is owned by the Sea Island Farmers Cooperative.
The Sea Island Regional Farmers Market will start small, but organizers are setting it on course to grow into a large, full-time market open several days a week.
They’ve been trying to get this thing off the ground for years, so it’s good to see it come to fruition. I imagine the whole locavore trend gave them plenty of traction.
