“As part of an effort to bridge the bicycle gap between the ‘jocks’ and the ‘hipsters’ and promote the biking lifestyle in Charleston, Charleston Cycle Chic is about encouraging women of all ages and lifestyles to get on a bicycle. We want to demonstrate to women that bicycling doesn’t have to involve spandex and fancy road bikes. It can be part of their everyday lives, while wearing everyday clothes. We will join the movement across Europe, in San Francisco and New York and let Charleston women know … It’s chic to ride!”
