“Forget Siesta, Let’s Fiesta” is what the menu for Taco Boy suggests, and those who got a sneak preview of the new downtown location on Huger Street Sunday night were ready to do just that. The new Taco Boy has a vibe similar to its Folly Beach brother but far more expansive and elegant with a cool southwestern aesthetic.

The impressive green renovation comes through in details like the stunning reclaimed ironwork in the railings between the bar and upper dining areas and the old-school Latino movie posters lining the bathroom walls. The patio is sprawling with an outside bar that promises to be the best perch this summer for taking in live music and a frosty margarita.

The menu is similar to Folly’s with a few new offerings including a pastor taco. Apparently, the recipe had not quite been perfected yet, so it was unavailable to sample on Sunday. A good reason for us to return very soon. They’re open daily for lunch, dinner, and late night, 11 a.m.-2 a.m.
