Veteran Charleston musician Frank Carlier is known for his skills as a guitarist and songsmith. He enjoyed some extra notoriety earlier this year when he won first place in the songwriter competition on the Jerry Springer Show with a twangy tune titled “I’m Going on the Jerry Springer Show.”

Carlier and an “all-star band” will perform a set at Awendaw Green on Sat. Aug. 29 at 7:30 p.m. The lineup includes Carlier and an “all-star band” of Matt Walker on cello and vocals, Carol O’Quinn on vocals, Chuck McCormick on drums, and Jay Miley on bass. “This will be the only show locally, more then likely, for this year, so try to come on out,” says Carlier. Admission is $15. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Geoff Turner Scholarship Program.
