Five reasons we love that bitch Kathy Griffin.

1. Dick jokes.

Cohosting CNN’s New Year’s Eve telecast, Griffin took on a heckler early in the morning. “I don’t go to your job and knock the dicks out of your mouth,” she said.

2. Gives one hell of an acceptance speech.

Winning an Emmy in 2007 for her show, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, the comedian told the audience, “Suck it, Jesus. This award is my God now.” On her second turn on the stage for a win in 2008, she said, “I’m not going to tell anyone to suck it. I would make love to this thing if I could.”

3. She gets it honest.

Griffin’s show has provided an unusual look into the background of a rising comedian, with her parents, Maggie Griffin and the late John Griffin, playing willing and frequent subjects for their daughter’s stand-up.

4. Gail and Ryan cannot hide.

Two celebrities frequently abused by Griffin’s routine are Gail King, referred to as “Oprah’s boyfriend,” as well as Griffin’s arch-nemesis, American Idol host Ryan Seacrest. She’s just saying what we’re thinking.

5. She loves her gays.

In the end, it’s hard to explain what it is about Kathy Griffin that makes gay men swoon. Some of it is her sharp tongue, but it’s primarily because Griffin has embraced the gay community and, for that, we love her right back.

Kathy Griffin will be appearing at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center on Sun. Oct. 18.
