Brian Ray’s debut novel Through the Pale Door has been generating some buzz in the literary world. Besides garnering favorable reviews from the Atlanta Journal Constitution and Booklist, the USC-educated, Greensboro-based writer won the S.C. Art Commission’s First Novel Prize, and he was a finalist for the Next Generation Indie Book Award. The Southern Gothic novel is about a girl who takes a job at a steel mill the summer before college.
