There’s a new booking agent and promoter in town, and he’s ready to launch his new business with a big gig at the Pour House next week. Ben Bounds of Follywood Productions considers his business an “event coordinating service” that focuses on providing original live entertainment for events of any size in the greater Charleston area.

“We will be focusing on connecting local bands with local venues, as well as bringing touring bands to Charleston and putting Charleston bands on tour,” he says. Previously based in Oxford, Miss., Bounds founded Dirt Road Records in 2003. He handled management, booking, and publicity for Oxford-based band Daybreakdown, which featured local singer/guitarist Reid Stone of Guilt Ridden Troubadour. “I’ve worked with Alex Harris at the Pour House and Tony McKie at Home Team BBQ,” Bounds says. “Those guys were a huge asset to me from a networking standpoint here in Charleston. It’s taken a little time, but I think we’re just about ready to get this thing going and start helping the local artists get their music out there, as well as bring some high quality touring artists to the Charleston music community.”

Follywood Productions hosts a launch party on Sun. Jan. 24 at the Pour House with an oyster roast at 5 p.m. and live music starting at 6 p.m. from Guilt Ridden Troubadour, Lindsay Holler’s Western Polaroids, The Hawkes, Po’ Ridge, and special guests.
