Update: W.O.K. has signed on to be the official after-party location of the Lady Gaga dance-a-thon. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Red Cross Haiti Development Fund. Also, with every sale that W.O.K. makes on Friday, they will donate 20 percent to the Haiti fund.
“We have an opportunity to help the people of Haiti, and it is encouraging to see individuals unite toward causes for the greater good of those in need,“ says Nick Bergelt, founder of W.O.K. and G.R.E.E.N. Initiative.
As an added bonus to those of you showing up to the dance-a-thon, event T-shirts will be for sale at Marion Square. They cost $15, and all proceeds will go to Red Cross.

Ever felt like breaking out into a dance in public? Yes, you have, don’t lie. Well, five Lady Gaga-loving college students are hoping to do just that in Marion Square this Friday, Jan. 29, and they’re bringing a little over 1,000 of their closest friends.
The lightbulb went off when Joe Quinn and his would-be cohorts, Sara Gamble, Grace Younger, Raena Shirali, and Mikayla Carr, were watching 500 Days of Summer — you know the part where Joseph Gordon-Levitt starts dancing blissfully on his way to work. They decided to take it local, and since this Friday is National Lady Gaga Day, Quinn and Co. chose “Bad Romance” as the headlining song. Quinn nonchalantly added this idea as an event on Facebook for his friends to see, and in a span of only four days, over 1,000 guests RSVPed.
This brainchild quickly turned into a brain Godzilla as Quinn and friends found themselves needing to cross a sea of red tape to make this happen. So far they have the permit and some police detail. Now all they need are the funds for the dance floor.
“Because this happened so fast, we haven’t had much time to gather funds since we were just officially approved by the city [last] Friday,” says Quinn. Right now, their biggest obstacle is getting enough money to help pay for the flooring to lie on Marion Square so the grass doesn’t get ruined from all of the dancing, and they’re seeking donations.
As an added bonus, B92 will be laying down the Lady Gaga tracks for everyone to dance to.
This party is also an official charity event. Quinn greatly encourages donations to help the Red Cross for the International Crisis Fun. There will be collection boxes around the Square.
