The Charleston Symphony Orchestra hosts their final Backstage Pass concert of the season on Thurs. March 25 at 7 p.m. The series is known for attracting newbies and casual music lovers looking to learn a little more about the sometimes-intimidating genre of concert music. Thursday’s concert is titled Beyond Belief and will include classical and contemporary pieces following a Greek mythology theme — think music from Cherubini, Berlioz, and Ravel.
Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra Music Director Mischa Santora will lead the orchestra and educate the audience on each piece, and internationally renowned composer Augusta Read Thomas will even join the party via Skype. The concert will last about an hour and will take place at Memminger Auditorium. Tickets are $25 or just $5 for students. Visit charlestonsymphony.com or augustareadthomas.com for more info.
