Most Charlestonians know that there’s more to do the weekend of the Cooper River Bridge Run than just run the bridge. But if you didn’t, we’ve got your guide.

Fish has a pre-race dinner packed with proteins and good carbs to give you the energy boost you’ll need when you wake up bright and early on Saturday morning. Or if you’re looking for a good excuse to sleep in “accidentally,” go to the I Slept Through the Bridge Run party at the Blind Tiger instead. There’ll be free cigarettes and fried food. How healthy.

After the Bridge Run, make your way with the runners over to the Finish Festival in Marion Square. Carnival Cruise Lines will have a 40-foot-high inflatable slide. Carnival will donate $1 to the MUSC Children’s Hospital for every rider who goes down the slide. (You just might want to use some hand sanitizer afterward.)

There’s a ton of other post-run celebrations too. Players from the Charleston Battery are having a “Breakfast of Champions” at the Buccanneer. Fish will have another healthy meal, this time to recharge you. I’on has a free concert with SuperDeluxe.

The Edgewater Bridge Run has everything the bigger one doesn’t. It’s easy. It starts much, much later in the day. And there will be alcohol.

There’s plenty of places to get your drink on during or after the race — there’s nothing more satisfying after running a 10K than drinking a bloody mary or mimosa. Or five. Midtown, Trio, Finz, Pearlz, and King Street Grille open at 9 a.m. T-Bonz opens at 9:30 a.m. , Red’s Icehouse, Abe’s, The Griffon, and Big John’s Tavern open at 10 a.m. There will also be specials at Fish, Moe’s Taverns, Burns Alley, Joe Pasta, and Fiddler’s Green.

And lastly, if you’re still in the mood for a race, Mellow Mushroom will attempt a world record for Largest Gathering of Smirnoff Bloody Mary Drinkers form 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
