According to The State, Jenny Sanford will be on the campaign trail this weekend with gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley. The support is much needed for a campaign that has failed to find the fundraising momentum seen by her opponents in the GOP primary.
Sanford will stump for Haley at a Friday morning fundraiser at the Rice Mill and a Charleston town hall meeting (location TBD). The two will then head up the coast for events in Myrtle Beach.
Just out of a very public divorce, the state’s former first lady has immense political capital. It’s unknown whether that will translate into increased support for Haley, a Statehouse representative with a reform agenda similar to Gov. Mark Sanford’s, but it will certainly get a few more people to listen to the candidate’s message.
