Well, it’s not exactly anything we haven’t suggested in these pages, but the Associated Press gave a pretty bleak assessment for state Education Superintendent Jim Rex or and state Sen. Vincent Sheheen — the two Democrats fighting it out for the primary nomination.

South Carolina also chooses its GOP nominee next month. And the victor likely will be the next governor given the slim chances of a Democratic victory in the Republican-leaning state.

Ouch.
