The Storm Eye Institute and Sun Trust Bank have come together to provide free eye screenings to Lowcountry residents. The screenings will be given to those who have diabetes or glaucoma, as well as those who have family histories of diabetes or glaucoma. Additionally, free screenings will be provided to those who haven’t had an eye exam in one year or more.
Diabetes is the world’s top cause of vision loss, and according to the South Carolina Department of Health, South Carolina ranks number 10 on the list of states with the greatest percentage of residents with diabetes.
