Mondo’s on James Island is undergoing a makeover and update. Owner/operator/chef Chris Orlando says they are renovating the dining area to make it a warmer, homier space with some stone and new accent lighting. He wants to make it comfortable, casual, and contemporary. The kitchen is also being outfitted with new equipment to make it more efficient.

With all the updates, we wondered whether the menu would be revamped too. On that, Orlando was clear that he knows what works, and he’ll be keeping the same menu. (Don’t worry, the eggplant parm is staying put.) But he says they’ll be expanding the wine list and craft beer offerings.

Mondo’s will reopen Fri. Sept. 17.
