Gregory Scott

The locally-based Singer/Songwriter Series goes into its fourth month with a showcase at the Village Tavern this week. The monthly series started in early August at the Pour House with a hefty lineup of Charleston-based songwriters, including organizer Gregory Scott, Mac Leaphart, Danielle Howle, Graham Whorley, Lindsay Holler, James Justin Burke, Skye Paige, and Steven Hurst. Several spoken-word and visual artists as well.

A native of Jackson, Miss., Scott wanted to shine some light on some of the local scene’s most creative songsmiths. “We have something special here in Charleston,” he says. “Not only do we have awesome culture and people, but we have an awesome local live music scene that sometimes doesn’t get the credit or notoriety it deserves.”

On Thurs. Dec. 2, the newly renovated Village Tavern (1055 Johnnie Dodds Blvd.) hosts acoustic sets on the main stage from Jordan Igoe, Kevin Church, E.S. Guthrie, and Scott himself. The music starts at 9 p.m. Admission is $3.
