It’s official, shoppers. We’re just a few days away from having a Forever 21 downtown. Officials announced that the store will open in the former Saks location on King Street on Sat. Jan. 15 at 10 a.m. There will be a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony, and the first 400 customers to show up will receive a gift card worth between $10 and $210.

The controversy has died down since it was first announced that the budget chain would take up residence in Charleston’s high-end shopping district, but some are still concerned that the addition will negatively impact area stores. Others simply welcome a place to buy on-trend clothing and accessories at an affordable price. Whatever your opinion, there’s no doubt Forever 21 is changing the face of King Street.
