The Associated Press has salary numbers for Gov. Nikki Haley’s closest advisers that is already raising some eyebrows among conservatives.

Chief of Staff Tim Pearson, Haley’s campaign manager, will be making $125,000 a year, which is $27,000 more than former Gov. Mark Sanford’s chief of staff and nearly $20,000 more than Haley’s own salary as the Palmetto State’s CEO. Deputy Chief of Staff Trey Walker is getting $122,000.

She says she’s streamlined the governor’s office and is expecting more from her staff. She says her office will work efficiently and within its budget.

The concern from outside observers is that Haley will have a tough time filling the administrative bench if her close associates are getting paid premium.
