After months of renovation, the old garden center on Montague in North Charleson’s Park Circle neighborhood has finally been transformed into Zocalo.

The restaurant opened last week for dinner. Billed as a Mexican street food joint, the small venue has a simple, mission vibe with white brick walls inside and a sprawling patio out. Vibrant, colorful art and candles give the interior a cozy feel. Big garage doors promise that once the weather warms up, the room will open out to the sprawling patio.

The menu is very simple with a selection of tacos, a Sonoran hot dog, and a torta of the day. You can also order some salsa and guacamole for a start. Tequila fans should be pretty happy with the flights and cocktails, but beer lovers might feel a bit gypped with the $4 Mexican brews.

The restaurant is open for dinner and plans to start serving lunch soon. 1049 E Montague Ave. (843) 225-5201
