An estimated 40,000 hunters, wildlife art aficionados, and their brood are expected to descend on the Holy City this week for the annual Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, signaling the start of the busy tourist season here in Chucktown. (And, seriously, if you’re going to make your way to the Lowcountry, it’s better to do it earlier in the year instead of during the oh-so-sweaty dog-days of summer.)
Since it was founded 29 years ago, the Southeastern Wildlife Expo has grown into the nation’s “largest wildlife art and nature event.” And rightfully so.
Just look over this guide and learn about all the fun and exciting activities available to SEWE-goers. The guys, gals, and animals from the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary will be here to educate and entertain. The always thrilling Dock Dogs competitions are set to delight young and old alike. And some of Charleston’s top chefs are ready to teach the hungry masses how to cook with wild game and champion the cause of buying locally grown produce. Of course, there’s a lot more to SEWE than that. Turn to page 31 for a complete listing of events.
