Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes at a theater? The Footlight Players have set out to answer that question with a free lecture series. Behind the Curtain kicked off with the company’s production of It’s a Wonderful Life over the holidays, and now they’re providing a deeper look at The Importance of Being Earnest courtesy of director Don Brandenburg on Thurs. Jan. 26 at 10 a.m.
Brandenburg and Footlight’s Executive Director Jocelyn Jenkins will discuss the history of the play, the rehearsal process, and the cast. They’ll also host an informal Q&A session with audience members. Of the first installment, Jenkins says, “Those who came to Behind the Curtain enjoyed the play even more because they got that behind-the-scenes look at it. So many people expected to see the movie on stage, so the people who heard the director explain his vision understood it from the very beginning.”
Coffee and refreshments will be provided. The play opens Jan. 27. See footlightplayers.net for more info.
