The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Charleston-born street artist Shepard Fairey is helping to kickstart a new film adaptation of George Orwell’s dystopic classic Nineteen Eighty-Four.

Along with Imagine Entertainment, the production company owned by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, and LBI Entertainment, Fairey is attempting to acquire the rights to the book for a new version of the film. The last major film version of the book, which starred John Hurt and Richard Burton, was conveniently released in 1984.

What do you think? Is it possible for a new version of the film to have as much relevance considering society was supposed to collapse almost 30 years ago? Do you think Fairey will be able to do a good job in whatever capacity he chooses to participate in on the film?
