The Office of Cultural Affairs hired a new gallery coordinator for the City Gallery at Waterfront Park last week. Anne Quattlebaum, a Charleston native who’s spent the last few years in Austin, Tex., started the job last Thursday.

Quattlebaum, who earned her masters in arts administration from Boston University in 1997, boasts an impressive resume. According to LinkedIn, she most recently worked as the Educational Programs Manager at Leadership Austin. She’s also worked at Illuna Productions (2008-2009), event planning company Bella (2002-2007), Spoleto Festival USA (2002), The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (1998-2001), the Handel and Haydn Society (1996-1997), and the Charleston Ballet Theatre (1992-1995).

“I would love to find exciting exhibits that stimulate discussion and dialogue and inspire creativity,” Quattlebaum says. “I think that, once I get my feet under me, I’d like to continue the Gallery’s focus on the vibrant local arts scene and highlight upcoming artists … Perhaps we can even succeed in exhibiting a native Charlestonian with an international reach like Shepard Fairey.”

Erin Glaze Nathanson, the gallery’s former coordinator, left her position earlier this spring. She’s currently working at Rebekah Jacob Gallery, Artist & Craftsman Supply, and the Cut Company.
