Looking to start your Fourth of July festivities a little early? Summerville D.R.E.A.M. (Downtown Restoration, Enhancement, and Management) will be hosting their annual Red, White and Blue on the Green festival on July 1 from 5-8 p.m. in downtown Summerville. Tickets are $3 ($2 for military). There will be music by the Bad Moon Band, food vendors, jump castles and games for the kids, and a parade around Hutchinson Square led by Mayor Berlin G. Myers. This year Patriots Point mixes it up. Instead of shooting off fireworks from the deck of the USS Yorktown, they’ll be offering the paying public the chance to watch the action from the aircraft carrier. Starting at 5:30 p.m., guests will enjoy live music from The East Coast Party Band and The Explorers Club, and catered food and beverages will be available for purchase. Entry is $10. The City of North Charleston is hosting their annual Fourth of July celebration at Riverfront Park from 3-10 p.m. Quiana Parler, The Blue Dogs, and CoastRunner will be performing, in addition to the many attractions. The event is free, and guests are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets, but no alcohol is allowed in the park. A wide variety of food vendors will be on site. (northcharleston.org)
Folly Beach
Folly Beach will host their annual fireworks display when the sun goes down around 9 p.m. on the Fourth of July. Go out to dinner with the family at one of their local restaurants or play on the beach beforehand because there is nothing better than a Fourth of July celebration with fireworks on the beach.
The Mt. Pleasant Pier will host a Fourth of July shindig dubbed Uncle Sam Jam, featuring live music by Permanent Vacation. Gates open at 7 p.m., and tickets are $10 per person ($8 for Charleston County residents). Tickets are limited, so be sure to get yours in advance. You can nosh on barbecue from Smoky Oak Taproom, get your face painted, listen to live music, and watch the Charleston Harbor fireworks show at the S.C. Aquarium’s Fourth of July Bash. The event begins at 7 p.m. and ends after the fireworks. Seating is limited and guests are encouraged to reserve a space early. Tickets are $55 for adults and $30 for children (3 and under are free). The price of admission includes beer, refreshments, and food. Bring your sleeping bags and camp out after the festivities are over for an additional cost of $20 for everyone.
