James Justin Burke

Songwriter James Justin Burke, a musician who splits his time between the Lowcountry and his native Virginia, has a new batch of songs ready for release. He and his roots/Americana band, James Justin & Co., have spent the better part of the year on the road, traveling from the Southeast to the far corners of the U.S., but they found time to record and mix their third studio album, a 10-song collection titled Places.

The disc follows last year’s Dark Country and the 2010 debut Southern Son, So Far. “Places is a sonic adventure where stories from the road sound still forever,” Burke says. “We’re so pumped about this record. Each song is an inspiration from our journey through every city, every place.”

Burke and the band were scheduled to perform at the Pour House this week, but Burke and his wife recently welcomed a new addition to their household — a son named Fin (their first child). The arrival came a bit close to the show date, so band will reschedule its local CD release show for some time September.
