Clips of Faith is New Belgium Brewing Company’s traveling, beer-fueled film festival which donates all of its proceeds to charity. Since the fest started coming to Charleston in 2010, it’s raised thousands of dollars on behalf of Charleston Moves, and this year it shows no sign of slowing down.

Serving 16 different kind of beer, many from New Belgium’s elusive Lips of Faith series, this philanthropic event features a diverse block of short films on Thurs. Sept. 27. The 22 films being shown (selected from 120 submissions) are an eclectic mix of dramas, comedies, animation, documentaries, and everything in between.

While we don’t want to spoil the surprise, we couldn’t resist highlighting a few of the winners.

Filmmaker Jeremy E. Jackson will show a music video for Foxy Shazam’s 2010 single “Unstoppable.” Goofy and fun, the video was shot old-school style, using vintage theater trickery, puppeteering, and black lights.

Producer Malcolm Sangster offers us a clip from his critically acclaimed freestyle ski movie All.I.Can. Featuring a street segment of internationally known skier JP Auclair, this movie preaches an overall message of global awareness and environmental conservation. Expect outrageous shredding — All.I.Can. won Powder Magazine’s 2012 “Video of the Year” award.

The Canning Queen of the Desert: Classie Parker follows a New York City woman who turns abandoned weed-ridden lots into neighborhood gardens. Parker teaches her community about growing, harvesting, and canning fresh produce. This true story is one of urban gardening at its finest.

While admission to Clips of Faith is free, 100 percent of the money you spend on beer, food, and merchandise goes right back into our community. There will be raffles for prizes like a real-life version of the Fat Tire Ale bicycle, and food by Taco Boy and Roti Rolls (cash only). Feel free to bring your own blankets, chairs, or snacks, but no outside alcohol is allowed. Films start at sundown.

The beer list will include Cocoa Mole Ale, Biere de Mars, Tart Lychee, Lost Abbey, Super IPA, Peach Porch Lounger, Matt’s Cascadian Dubbel, Red Hoptober, La Folie, Fat Tire, Ranger, Trippel, Abbey, Blue Paddle, Belgo IPA, and Shift.
