After weeks of hard-fought battles in which one band after another was eliminated — including The Scott Freier Band, Dan’s Tramp Stamp, The Cordovans, Rustic Remedy, Volusia, and The Folly Beach All-stars — the finals of Wild Wing Café and 105.5 The Bridge’s Last Band Standing are finally here. Blues rockers Stop Light Observations will perform against the folk rock/alt-country crooners, The Tarlatans, in the final round at Wild Wing Café on Sept. 26. The winning band will walk away with a sweet grab bag of prizes including $1,000 to spend on equipment at the Guitar Center, local radio rotation, recording time, and the opportunity to play the Wild Wing circuit. The Tarlatans, though fairly new to the scene, have been receiving plenty of buzz around town and playing with veteran musicians within our music community. Vocalist/guitarist Taylor McClesky says that the guys would split the money equally, but that bass player Eric Mixon would love to add a banjo into the mix. Clearly, they have some thinking to do, but first they have to win. And that’ll be tough. Judging by the comments for the City Paper Music Awards, the guys in Stop Light Observations have an extremely vocal fanbase. Best of luck to both bands.
